Have decided that being a parent is a bit like being a politician (albeit a non-sleazy, non-corrupt one). You want to make your constituents happy but find that your policies are not always warmly welcomed. Or they decide that you’re not the MP for them after all and they’d like someone else to be in charge now please. But then you introduce a tax break and suddenly they love you again. Ok, it’s not a great analogy but I think you get the gist.
Maybe it’s the fact we’ve all been together 24/7 for the last week but the holiday feeling definitely left the house today. Maybe it’s the thought of being back at work and school tomorrow. Anyhow there was a bit of dissent in the ranks and quite a bit of unnecessary sergeant major behaviour from those in charge.
Still, the sun was shining and we had a barbecue with G&G and a quick walk/bike ride at the park. And finished the Keep Calm and Eat Cake cake. Can’t be bad. Happy moments a-plenty. Always good when food (particularly cake) is involved and made all the more enjoyable in G&G’s company.
On another unrelated note, K and I have embarked on another challenge today – the 30 day Ab challenge! Ha ha ha! We are giving it a go with 2 other friends to see if we can all reduce our waistlines by the end of June. Started tonight with 15 sit ups, 5 crunches, 5 leg raises and a 10 second plank. I did ok as I’ve been doing all but the sit ups during Pilates classes but K’s back is still not great and he struggled a little. Still he did it and we build up on it as the days go on with “rest days” in between. Watch this space.
